Arsenal have snapped up Nigeria’s Under-17 captain Kelechi Nwakali on a five-year contract, according to Sports Day.
The report from Nigeria claims that the 17-year-old midfielder, who guided his country to victory in the Under-17 World Cup in November, has agreed to join the Gunners after a successful trial in January.
“Kelechi has signed a five-year deal with Arsenal,” a ‘close associate’ of Nwakali told Sports Day.
“I won’t be able to mention the exact transfer fee but it is above £2m.”
In January, Arsene Wenger revealed that the club were confident of completing a deal for Nwakali, as well as his Nigeria team-mate Samuel Chukwueze.
