Kim Kardashian robbed in her Paris apartment of jewels worth over $10 million including a $4.5 million ring

Last night, a terrified Kim Kardashian was tied up and gagged while armed thieves robbed her Paris apartment of $10 million in jewels. But the shocking crime could have been prevented, the reality star’s former bodyguard spoke in an exclusive interview.

She was "badly shaken but physically unharmed", according to source the armed men broke into the residence that she was staying in during Paris Fashion Week. 

While the initial reports alleged that two men dressed as police had entered Kardashian West's hotel room, the French Interior Ministry has since told reporters that five armed assailants threatened and handcuffed the concierge of a private residence - reportedly belonging to her husband, Kanye West - forcing him to open the apartment. Two of the attackers are said to have entered Kardashian West's bedroom and she was tied up in a bathroom while they stole two mobile phones and several millions of dollars worth of jewellery - including a $4.5 million ring - according to a ministry spokesperson. Police have confirmed that a full investigation is underway.

Kanye West was performing on stage at New York's Meadow Festival at the time and abruptly brought his set to an end when he learned the news, telling the crowd there was a "family emergency". Kardashian West and her family members have not yet commented on the situation, but she was pictured leaving Paris on a private jet this morning.

According to celebrity security guard and actor Steve Stanulis, a former New York City police officer and now the head of high-end firm Silver Shield Security LLC,  who worked for Kardashian, 35, and husband Kanye West in New York City until May of this year, the mother of two “opened the doors” to robbery by flaunting her wealth and whereabouts on social media before the incident.

“The best way to get robbed is to go on Snapchat in front of the world and basically show everyone what you’re wearing, what jewelry you have on, and where you are,” Stanulis, 44,. “It’s a criminal’s playground.”

Kardashian showed off her designer clothes and $4 million engagement ring to fans in the hours before the late-night attack. He also recalls incidents where headstrong West, 39, ignored his security advice and put his family at risk.

“I would be waiting for him, and he would come out and tell the security team to take a taxi. We’d be separated,” Stanulis recalls of his time with the egocentric rapper. “I would get stressed out.”

West would also demand that the bodyguards stay at least 10 feet behind him while walking down the street, meaning Stanulis and his team would not be able to protect him in time from possible attackers.

“I don’t think there’s anybody in their camp that has the ability to say, “I don’t know if you should be doing this, you don’t have much security here,” he reveals. “Unfortunately, this attack doesn’t surprise me.”

The safety expert was also shocked that Kardashian’s main guard left her for the night to follow nightlife-loving sisters Kourtney and Kendall Jenner out to fashion week parties. 

“If they had had the right person, this wouldn’t have happened,” he sums up. “If they weren’t firing people who were properly trained, maybe this wouldn’t have happened!”
