Nine cultists arrested in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command on Tuesday said it had arrested nine suspected cultists who had been disturbing the peace of the state for more than two months. The command’s spokesman, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, said in Enugu that among the suspected cultists were students, artisans and traders.

“The suspects have been terrorising some parts of Enugu State for over two months now. Through our intelligence, we arrested some of them at their meeting place. “Three of them were arrested after exchanging fire with policemen and this group was responsible for the killing of the son of a police inspector in Emene community.

“The same group also killed a hotel manager in the same community.” The spokesman vowed that the command would continue to demonstrate zero tolerance for cultism in its entire ramification. “This command had warned cultists to leave the state and relocate since we would continue to hunt them down. “We will also continue our school sensitization campaign against cultism to redeem and dissuade our children not to take after these social misfits,’’ he added.
